As students of education, we have the privilege to receive robust lessons that prepare us to teach in our future jobs as professional educators. However, the role of a teacher extends far beyond the classroom and curriculum. It is our duty to be global citizens and to foster global citizenship within our classrooms and communities. As former United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said in 2021, "education must fully assume its essential role in helping people to forge more just, peaceful and tolerant societies."

The AES is a full-day virtual conference that will address various topics involving equity in education. It will include sessions on teaching social justice issues, diversity, advocacy, as well as many other topics to prepare us to serve all students, their families, and our communities better.

We hope you will join us online for the third annual Aspiring Educator Summit.

The mission of the Watson Student Leaders is to develop a community of students dedicated to the education field. Members collaborate and facilitate opportunities to serve the organization, the Watson College of Education, and the greater Wilmington community.

AES 2021 is sponsored by the Watson Student Leaders and organized by the Professional Development Committee in conjunction with the SAIL Office.
